I have recently purchased a PA-38-112 for flight instruction. The airplane only has a lap belt so I need to put in the original shoulder harness. I see that Alpha Aviation advertises a 3 point replacement restraint for a PA-38, but they close there add with this remark, "Please Note: If replacing existing harnesses - this is side mounted (outboard/near the door post & window) installation and will not work with a center cabin/overhead installation." I read this and say "in the Tomahawk the shoulder belts fastened to the rear of the cargo area on the outboard sides, not near the doorpost and window." So does anyone know if this is just a misstatement or is there some modification to the PA-38 that put belts on the doorposts immediately behind the seats? Thanks for the answers in advance.
